Overview

We’ve made big improvements to reporting in Joiin, with more flexibility, saved filters, and powerful new options. If something doesn’t seem quite the same as before, don’t worry - most features are still here, just in a new place or with a new name.

These quick tips will help you find your way around and get back to work fast.

Saving and Favouriting Reports

If your old favourited custom reports no longer appear in the left menu, don’t worry - you can re-pin them in a few quick steps:

  • Your old custom reports are now called Layouts.

  • Find them via the Layout dropdown on a financial report, or in Settings → Layouts.

  • Run the report with your chosen layout, then click Save → Save as report to store it with your selected filters (companies, dates, etc.).

  • Go to Saved Reports & Packs, click the star ★ to favourite it, and it’ll appear in the left menu.

Your report will always run with the saved filters (a popular new feature), but you can edit them any time using the Edit Filters icon.

Editing Multiple Reports

A common question we get is how to edit the dates on multiple reports within a Report Pack. In the old version of report packs there was an edit screen which listed all the reports, one after the other and showed editable Date fields.

This screen no longer exists - as we now focus on providing a graphical what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) experience which allows you to see your report as you build it and provides many more features and flexibility. The good news you can still edit multiple reports quickly which will explain here.

Dynamic Dates

Before we dive into that though - it is worth pointing out the Dynamic Dates features of report packs - this allows you to set a "dynamic date" such as "This Month". As time progresses the date will automatically change when the report is run. Using this can often negate the need for you to manually go in and change dates. For more on Dynamic Dates see this article.

Editing Notes and Tips

Here are some notes and tips on editing multiple reports within a report pack.

Contents Page for navigation

When you first open your report pack - via the Saved Reports and Packs menu item - if you have set one up, you can see the list of Sections within a report on the Contents page. If you don't have a Contents page it's easy to add one. This can be a quick way to see the different reports your pack contains and navigate to them by clicking on the item.

Alternatively you can scroll down through the report and see each report.

You do no have to wait for a report to load

When a pack is first opened, it can take a bit of time for reports to load. You do not have to wait for them to load to edit them. While a report is loading you will see a "ghost" image of the report contents. But you can still see the name of the report and the report parameters at the top - and the Edit Filters icon is available to click on.

Click on the edit filters icon and you will see the report filters edit screen, where you can change the Dates (or any other parameters). Once you done that, click Save and the report will load again. You can move onto the next report without waiting for the one you have just saved to load.
